When encountering numbers in texts, signs, or displays.
Example Sentences
1. She read the date 1956 on the page aloud.
2. Can you read the numbers on the clock as 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, and so on?
3. The price tag on the shirt read $14,345.00.
4. The child read the house number out loud, “14800 Elm Street“.
5. She can read numbers in English and Spanish, “One, Two, Three. Uno, Dos, Tres“.
6. They read the temperature as 32 degrees from the thermometer.
7. He read the speed limit sign that had 55mph.
8. She read the phone number from the directory as 558-345-3456.
9. He read the serial number on the device as 15B2-AH15-DG68.
10. The student read the number of items on the list, ‘One, Two, Three, Four“.
Idioms Using Numbers - Reading
"A stitch in time saves nine" - Taking care of a problem early prevents it from becoming a bigger issue.
"Fix that leak now; a stitch in time saves nine."
"Two peas in a pod" - Very similar in appearance or character.
"Those two friends are like two peas in a pod; they do everything together and think alike."
"Six feet under" - Dead and buried.
"He was the toughest opponent, but now he's six feet under."
