The act of forming numerical symbols and words on a surface.
Why We Use Them
To record numerical information for reference, communication, and calculations.
When to Use Them
When documenting quantities, doing math problems, or labeling items.
Example Sentences
1. She wrote the number five on the board.
2. He wrote the date on the top of the page.
3. The child wrote the number of apples on the paper.
4. Can you write down your phone number?
5. She practiced writing numbers from one to ten.
6. He wrote the price of each item in his notebook.
7. The teacher asked the students to write the number of stars they see.
8. She wrote the time of the meeting on the calendar.
9. He wrote the score of the game on the chalkboard.

Idioms Using Numbers - Writing
“By the numbers” - Following a set procedure or routine, often precisely and methodically.
"The dance instructor insisted that we do the routine by the numbers to ensure everyone was in sync."
“Crunch the numbers” - To perform calculations or analyze numerical data.
"Before we can decide on the budget, we need to crunch the numbers to see what we can afford."
“One for the books” - Something memorable or noteworthy, often recorded in a record book.
"The concert was one for the books, with an unforgettable performance by the band."
