EXPRESS A COMPLETE THOUGHT

In 6 Steps

STEP ONE

TOPIC: Choose a simple topic that you can speak about. It could be something that recently happened in your life.

 

STEP TWO

Write 10 short, simple sentences with no conjunctions. (do not use and, but and or). You can use the sentence pattern: “Subject + verb + object.“ For more empowered or accomplished student, write 20 sentences. 

 

STEP THREE

Now combine the every 2 sentences together as 1 sentence. If you have 10 sentences, you should have 5 sentences. if you wrote 20, you should have 10 sentences.

 

STEP FOUR

Now, place a transition word or a conjunction every two sentences. Use words like; and, but, or, however, therefore, etc.

STEP FIVE

Write all of the sentences as if it was one paragraph. In this step, you can rearrange the sentence order, remove repeated words and phrases. Change any word or phrase to make sure your message is understood.

 

STEP SIX – FINAL THOUGHT

IThis is the last step. Write you paragraph here. Read it aloud. If you need to change anything, return to step 5 and repeat. This should be the paragraph you would want to share with others.
