When to Use it:

Use this word when someone says something that they think is true but has no proof or evidence to show that it is true.

How to use:

  • He allegedly stole the money from the safe.

      - It is possible that he stole the money, but there is no proof.

  • Allegedly, she was seen leaving the scene of the crime.

      - Supposedly someone saw her leaving the area, but we can’t find anyone who saw her.

  • The boyfriend allegedly misled his girlfriend about how much money he had.

      - The boyfriend may have lied to his girlfriend about how much money he had, but we don’t know.
